The Click Relationships website is clickrelationships.org, and is operated by and a service of OnePlusOne. The operating name is One Plus One Marriage and Partnership Research.
OnePlusOne is a Registered Charity No. 1087994 and a private company Limited by Guarantee, registered in England and Wales, company No. 4133340 whose registered address is: OnePlusOne, Central Working Shoreditch, 6-8 Bonhill Street, London, EC2A 4BX.
At OnePlusOne, we take data protection and your right to privacy very seriously. As the UK’s leading relationship research organisation we have more than 40 years experience of handling confidential personal information. We particularly understand the importance of anonymity for individuals when addressing personal issues.

1. Data anonymity
1.1 Click has been designed to allow members to remain anonymous at all times to other users of the Click Relationships service. To remain anonymous, we advise that:
1.2 To become a registered member of Click, a user will provide a username and an email address; nothing more is required. You may add information to your personal profile at any time, or you may leave these fields empty. We may prompt you to complete this personal profile, but you are never obligated, and you are not required to complete your personal profile to gain access to any part of the service.
1.3 To protect your anonymity, we recommend that you do not share personal information with other members, and that you do not choose a screen name that can be easily guessed by someone who knows you well, e.g. your partner.
 

 

2. The data we collect
2.1. When you register with Click Relationships, you are required to tick a box that says “I have read and understood the terms and conditions”. From this explicit consent, OnePlusOne will collect (and keep private) the following data that you submit throughout your usage of Click Relationships.
2.2. We will only use any information that you provide about yourself on Click in accordance with our Data Protection & Privacy Policy (subject to clauses 2.3 and 2.4) and by using this site you consent to our use of data collected on this site in the manner set out in this policy.
2.3. If we deem it necessary or appropriate under our moral duty of care to individuals and others using Click to disclose your user identity details, along with any other data held, to the courts or other law enforcement authorities and/or agencies we will do so. This would be classified under the data protection act as legitimate interest.
2.4. If we are required to disclose your user identity details, along with any other data held, by the courts or other law enforcement authorities and/or agencies we will do so.
2.5. We will not share any identifiable information to third parties without a registered user’s explicit permission.
2.6. Whenever registered users provide any such data, we will treat that information in accordance with this policy. When using your personal information, OnePlusOne will act in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR, plus additional regulations concerning the best practice in regard to maintaining data security.

 

3. Why we collect data
3.1. We collect data for the purposes of scientific research and evidence; to understand what kind of impact our work is having. The data supports our work in helping generate knowledge and insights into relationships.
3.2. We may use information that registered users supply to compile anonymous statistics and research. For example we will be able to calculate what percentage of individuals using the site are male or female, and the average number of children each has and so on.
3.3. By entering information in the fields of the “goals” section, we will be able to provide registered users with resources and information that is relevant to their interests and their individual circumstances.
3.4. Transcripts from the Listening Room are kept so that:
1. a) OnePlusOne can review them for learning purposes and assess the quality of the assistance provided.
2. b) we can reference any information shared that might have legal implications.

 

4. How data will be used
4.1. We will never pass any personal identifiable information to any other organisation or third party, unless we have obtained your explicit permission to do so, or are legally required to do so under the strict exemptions laid down in the Data Protection Act 1998, or through the following of new requirements such as GDPR.
4.2. As a research based organisation, OnePlusOne may use the information to compile aggregate statistics, for example the number of registered users, number of individuals/couples addressing specific issues etc., to assist us in research or campaigning. In all cases, all information supplied will be completely anonymous.

 

5. Contacting you regarding your data
5.1. When you create an account with Click, you have the option of subscribing to a newsletter. Our newsletter may contain an invite to further information from members at a later date for example to assist us in our research. We will always email registered users before-hand explaining our reasons in detail. Whether registered users choose to provide such information or not is optional. Any information provided will be subject to the terms of this policy and used only for the purposes specified in detail in the relevant email.
5.2. Occasionally we may also invite individuals and couples to take part in our research into couple relationships. Once again, participation is voluntary and we will always ensure the integrity of registered users privacy and desire for anonymity.

 

6. Requesting that your data be removed
6.1. It’s your right to be forgotten. This right is not absolute, but you can make this request verbally or in writing (see 6.5) to this email address: privacy@oneplusone.org.uk. In this event, your data will be deleted from all view, though this will remain retrievable from our database in the event that clauses 4.1 or 4.2 become valid.
6.3. It’s your right to object to processing under certain circumstances.
6.4. It’s your right to ask for the data that we have collected.
6.5. Should you request your data, ask for data to be deleted, or ask for data not to be processed, the following steps will be taken by OnePlusOne as the data controller:
6.5.1. A data controller representative from OnePlusOne will respond within 72 hours.
6.5.2. In the event of 6.2, as the data controller OnePlusOne must settle the matter within a month, unless the matter is especially complex or numerous, in which case the matter will be settled within two months.
6.5.3. Controllers are allowed to charge a reasonable fee if the request turns out to be unfounded or excessive beyond the pale.
6.5.4. £10 from individual requesting the removal of data is required. This will initiate the month time window for which the matter must be resolved within, unless the matter is complex or numerous.
6.6. You may delete your profile information or your account at any point. To delete your account, simply go to your profile page and press the “delete account” https://click.clickrelationships.org/profile/

 

7. Where your data lives and who sees it
7.1. Your data is encrypted and secured at a data centre in London, UK, via the AWS platform. One single super admin has access to this database, and only select members of the research team at OnePlusOne will have access to this data and process it under strict conditions.

 

8. How long we hold your data for 
8.1. Data is only processed and retained for legitimate interests of OnePlusOne.
8.2. The data OnePlusOne collect is classed as scientific research according to the definition within the GDPR (Recital 159). This means that data collected is not expected to be deleted within a set time period. However, you request that your account be deleted, data will be held for 7 years (6 + current). Data will be minimised at the end of retention period, and then archived. (Note: minimisation refers to the removal of data that could help identify a user, e.g. post code).
8.3. Users should be contacted on annual basis to check details are up-to-date (GDPR, Article 5, item d).

 

9. Under 16s
9.1. When you register with us you are stating that you are over 16 years of age, as per the terms and conditions for the service. You agree that any information you provide to us about yourself upon registration or at any other time will be true, accurate and complete.

This policy forms part of our overall Terms and Conditions and we reserve the right to amend it as we deem necessary.
